I really cannot tahan satay sauce with peanut butter. It has to be authentic. Your satay and kuah recipe looks great. I can't imagine not getting to taste any of this if away from Malaysia or Singpaore.

Teringat I masa zaman2 student kat Indiana 13 tahun duluuuu...we made satay several times too. I was a simple cook so the more "complicated" dishes were initiated by my older housemate. Hmmm I dont remember putting fennel & cumin but I did remember we blended onions for the marinade.

Then the guys yg bakar...ahhhh those were the carefree days :)

What a useless Malaysian I am - I had to call my dad to translate your message for me- left KCH when I was only 3 so I grew up speaking English. My dad was pretty confused, the "kcg" threw him off so I shot an email to my cousin in KCH and he confirmed what your message meant LOL.

Your satay recipe looks great. The first time I tried to make a satay beef stir-fry for my husband was a complete disaster - my hubby still remembers it as the "peanut butter beef" incident. I think I've become a much better cook since then!
